🎵 🎹 Ear Training - Intervals 🎵 🎹
Ear training is like exercising your ears so they become musical superheroes! 🦸 🎹
It helps you recognize sounds, patterns, and notes without needing to look at the music! This is important because it makes you a better listener, performer, and even composer—you’ll be able to figure out songs just by hearing them. 👂 🎶
Some fun ways to practice are:
-
noticing if a note goes up or down 👂 ↗️ ↙️
-
singing back short melodies 🎤 🎶
-
listening carefully to see if two notes sound the same or different. 🤔 🎶
Another way to talk about two different notes is by noticing the distance between them. To measure the distance between notes, we don't use a "ruler" 📏 or "measuring tape", we count all the notes from the starting note to the ending note. 🔢 🎵 This number of notes is called an INTERVAL!
There are also many types of special INTERVALS. If we play two notes together, these are called HARMONIC INTERVALS, like singing in harmony in a choir! 👨🎤 👩🎤 🎙️
If we play or sing two notes one after each other, these are called MELODIC INTERVALS, like singing a melody of a song all by yourself! 🧑🎤 🎤

Some INTERVALS even have special flavours and names! Let's learn some!

Miss Deborah's Guinea Pigs want to learn some INTERVALS starting with MIDDLE C as the bottom note and using the notes C D E F G A B C! 🐹 🎼 🎶
