TUITION AND STUDIO POLICIES - 2026-2027
Please review the studio policies below then complete this enrollment form.
TUITION
Students enroll for weekly private piano lessons during the regular teaching year, September through May. The studio observes customary holiday and school vacation periods, including Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
LESSON RATES
30-minute private lesson — $50
Standard lesson length.
45-minute private lesson — $72.50
Recommended for older and advancing students; teacher approval required.
HOW TUITION IS CALCULATED
Tuition is based on the actual number of lessons scheduled for the teaching year, rather than on the number of lessons that happen to fall within any particular calendar month.
For convenience, total tuition for September through May is divided into nine monthly payments. The first September payment may be adjusted as necessary to reflect the student's actual lesson calendar, and the remaining eight payments are equal.
For a typical four-lesson month, this is averaged over the months equivalent to:
30-minute lessons — $200/month
45-minute lessons — $270/month
Because some months contain more or fewer teaching weeks, monthly payments should not be interpreted as payment for a specific number of lessons in that month. Tuition reserves the student's regular weekly lesson time for the teaching year.
Students beginning after the start of the teaching year will have tuition prorated according to the number of scheduled lessons remaining.
ANNUAL STUDIO & MATERIALS FEE
An annual Studio Registration & Materials Fee of $150 per family, is payable at enrollment or at the beginning of each teaching year.
This fee helps cover music books and sheet music supplied by the teacher, student materials and binders, licensed teaching games and resources, online music-enrichment resources, printing and studio supplies, and other teaching materials used throughout the year.
Specialty or unusually expensive music and replacement books may be charged separately.
PAYMENT
Tuition is invoiced on the 1st of each month and is due upon receipt. A $20 late fee is assessed after the 15th.
Payments may be made by cash, check, or credit card through the My Music Staff portal. Secure automatic payment is available through My Music Staff and is recommended for convenience and to avoid late payments.
There is no additional credit-card processing fee for regular tuition payments.
SUMMER LESSONS
Summer lessons are offered on a more flexible schedule during June and July to accommodate vacations, camps, and other summer activities.
Families select the weeks they would like lessons, and summer tuition is billed according to the number and length of lessons scheduled.
MISSED LESSONS
Tuition reserves the student's recurring lesson time and is not based on attendance. Lessons missed by the student are not credited, refunded, or made up by the teacher.
When sufficient advance notice is provided, alternatives may sometimes be available at the teacher's discretion.
These may include an online lesson during the student's regularly scheduled lesson time, allowing a sibling to use the reserved lesson time, or submitting a video for teacher feedback.
If the teacher must cancel a scheduled lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or an appropriate tuition credit will be provided.
TERMINATION OF LESSONS
If there are extenuating circumstances and a student needs to halt lessons before the month is up, 30 days written notice (email or letter) is required, and tuition will be charged for the lessons within that 30 day period, whether they are taken or not. Tuition is non-transferable.
ILLNESS
Students who are ill, too sick to attend school, or showing signs of a contagious illness should not attend lessons in person.
When appropriate, an online lesson may be available during the student's regularly scheduled lesson time. The teacher reserves the right to end an in-person lesson when a student appears too ill to participate safely or comfortably.
RECITALS & PERFORMANCES
Students may have opportunities to participate in studio recitals, informal showcases, piano parties, and other performance activities during the year.
A separate recital fee may be assessed for the annual Grand Recital in May or June to help cover venue and event costs.
COMMUNICATIONS
Studio communications regarding scheduling, billing, calendar information, and other important matters are primarily sent by email or text. Families are responsible for maintaining current contact information and ensuring that studio and billing emails are not blocked by email filters.
