A child prodigy: composing by age 5, touring Europe by 6
Wrote 600+ works in just 35 years
Mastered every major genre of his time
Had an astonishing musical memory — could write down music after hearing it once
Loved jokes, wordplay, and silly humor, especially in letters
Often composed very quickly, sometimes finishing works in days
Struggled financially, despite his fame
Died at 35, leaving the Requiem unfinished
Buried in a common grave, typical for the time
His music is admired for clarity, balance, elegance, and emotional depth
