The Shire (Lord of the Rings)

-
NEW

The music of The Lord of the Rings film series was composed, orchestrated, conducted and produced by Howard Shore between 2000 and 2004 to support Peter Jackson's film trilogy based on J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel of the same name.

Work until the check mark - once you have mastered the chords, put together slowly. Remember to hold the dotted quarter notes a little longer than a quarter note since we are playing this by ear rather than counting.

He's a Pirate

-
NEW

"He's a Pirate" is a 2003 track composed by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer for the 2003 Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Don't treat the eighth notes as staccatos and use the eight rest to lift in order to play the next note. Start playing hands together bit by bit in very mechanical way with the 6/8 counting. This will allow you to play at speed with accurate rhythm.

Ā

Learn slowly with 1-2-3-4-5-6 counting - learn as written for ease of reading hands separately. Once learned you can move the left hand down an octave.

6/8 time - eighth notes get 1 count, quarter notes = 2 counts, dotted quarter notes = 3 counts.

Ā

This is in the Key of D minor which has 1 flat - B flat.
